KRISHNA KUMAR: ISEC FOUNDER & MASTER COACH

A pioneer in the sphere of Leadership and Executive Coaching in India, Krishna Kumar holds the firm belief that coaching is enlightening, transformational, at times magical, almost always healing and possessing the power to build a healthier and harmonious society. It is a belief that has carried him through a diverse journey over three decades where he has donned the hats of a senior corporate executive, an entrepreneur, a master tennis coaching professional, a B-school professor, independent Board member and as a Leadership and Executive Coach.

Working for the global Coaching Community

The Founder Director of the Intrad School of Executive Coaching (ISEC), Krishna Kumar is an active member of the international coaching community. He was the first person outside of North America to be elected to lead the International Association of Coaching (IAC), a not-for- organization, as their global President during 2016-17. The IAC is globally recognized as the premier coach credentialing association. He was also the IAC Presidential Ambassador and a Member on their Governing Board for six years. In March 2020 he received the IAC Presidents Award for coaching excellence

As a Founding Fellow of the Institute of Coaching (IOC), an affiliate of the Harvard Medical College, he is keenly engaged in keeping pace with the latest research trends in the coaching world.

Journey as an Executive Coach

In the early 2000’s, discovering and being deeply inspired by the seminal work of legendary tennis coach, Timothy Gallwey, he began his career as an executive coach with a desire to support others in their journey towards performing to their potential. He developed his AWARE^© model using the Inner Game methodology that merged concepts and practices from sports psychology and organizational behavior to effectively improve performance of senior executives in the corporate and business world.

In the past decade Krishna Kumar has been the Keynote Speaker at CEO, CIO/CTO and Leadership forums and conferences held in India, Colombo, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Budapest. He has been the Official Headline Panelist at the World Business & Executive Coach Summit (WBECS) for seven consecutive years from 2012 to 2018 and also at the Desafio 30 days Coaching Challenge from 2016 to 2018. He has been profiled in leading publications, business journals and radio talk shows.

Sports Coaching

Alongside, his passion for tennis coaching resulted in his founding the Kinesis Tennis Academy, an organization that is today rated amongst India’s premier professional tennis training institutes. An USPTR (United States Professional Tennis Registry) certified tennis coaching professional for over two decades, he has received the USPTR India President’s award and the 2011 USPTR Coach of the Year award. Krishna Kumar has coached alongside the legendary Boris Becker and his trainees include one of India’s finest tennis players, Vishnu Vardhan, who represented India at the London Olympics in 2012.

Academic Background

Krishna Kumar’s educational qualifications include a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (1980) and a PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management (1982). He also has a general management certification from INSEAD (1995).

He is a Board Certified Coach (BCC) by The Centre for Credentialing & Education (USA) and a Cisco Certified Strengths Coach (Marcus Buckingham Strengths Coach). In addition, he is certified by Harrison Assessment and Pearson Talent lens in the use of their psychometric testing instruments and has extensively used Belbin, Instinctive Drives, HBDI, 360 deg, PDI, MBTI and many others in his coaching practice.

Presently he is a Guest faculty at the Indian institute of Management, Bangalore, where he co-offers two hugely popular Leadership Development program titled, "Creating High Performance Organizations" and "Accelerating Your Leadership Journey: The Leader as Coach."
